Abstract

Purpose: New HIV infections in adolescents and young adults (AYAs) are a widespread public health concern. Despite overall rates declining nationally, young men who have sex with men are experiencing an increase in new HIV diagnoses with male to male sexual contact being cited most commonly as the route for new infections. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) encourage the development of an integrated HIV prevention and care plan that addresses the goals of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy (NHAS) which includes preventing new infections, increasing access to care, improving health outcomes, and reducing HIV-related health disparities. This study looked at the efficacy of a mobile testing unit on linking a high risk, urban population to PrEP.
