Abstract

The first phase of Florida’s Unified Ending the Epidemic Plan initiative focuses on areas where the HIV burden is highest including: Broward, Duval, Hillsborough, Miami-Dade, Orange, Palm Beach and Pinellas counties. Individuals ages 13-24 make up 16.3% of new HIV infections in Florida and ∼25% of Leon County residents are ages 13-24, higher than their proportion in Florida or the U.S. overall. Florida law recommends HIV testing beginning at age 13 and allows adolescent testing without parental consent.
