Abstract

Introduction: Arthrodesis of the glenohumeral joint for severe pain and disability after failed glenohumeral arthroplasty is extremely difficult. This is a retrospective review of the use of bulk allograft bone to treat this challenging patient population. Methods: Twelve patients with failed shoulder arthroplasty ages 54-78 with deltoid, rotator cuff deficiency, or pain underwent arthrodesis of the shoulder using a proximal humeral or proximal femoral allograft. The allografts were augmented with autogenous iliac crest bone graft in all cases.
