Abstract

Some of the applications of fluoropolymer additives utilize high molecular polymers. For example, molding grade polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) resins are added to thermoplastics to reduce their flammability. PTFE resins suppress the dripping of thermoplastics during combustion, which reduces spreading of flame. Both granular and fine powder grades of PTFE are used for flame suppression. Additionally, high molecular weight PTFE resins are feed for production of low molecular weight additives.
