Abstract
This chapter gives an introductory overview of recent achievements in plasma-assisted surface modification of biodegradable polymers. A short introduction on biodegradable polymers is followed by an introduction on cold or non-thermal plasmas. Surface modification of polymers by cold plasma technology is generally explained, and some examples of plasma-treated biodegradable polymers are described in more detail. The final part discusses current trends and conclusions.
