Abstract

AbstractSince the 1970's the industry and information technology has had to cope with a rapidly changing environment. To deal with this, management had to accelerate their decisions and found that top level managers often applied intuition for important decisions. Intuition can be immediate, and is usually a sort of feeling which direction should be taken.Systems Engineering (SE) nowadays has also to cope with the same environment as management, to deal with complex design decisions with inadequate data and under time pressure. This paper discusses whether intuition can be a factor to make the practice of Systems Engineering an even more effective and complete methodology to assure the quality of technology.
