Abstract

Sixth International Conference dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the birth of Rostislav Sergeevich Ilyin “Reflections of Bio-, Geo- and Anthroposheric Interactions in Soils and Soil Cover”S N Kirpotin“Bio-Clim-Land” Center of Excellence, Tomsk State University, Tomsk, RussiaThe Sixth International Conference dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the birth of Rostislav Sergeevich Ilyin “Reflections of Bio-, Geo- and Anthroposheric Interactions in Soils and Soil Cover” was held in Tomsk, Russia, on December 11-14, 2016. The collection contains materials of research in the field of dynamic geology and geomorphology, geochemistry of the hypergenesis zone, soil science, genesis, evolution, soil classification and soil cover structure. Questions are considered functions of soils and soil cover in terrestrial ecosystems.Materials will be useful to specialists who are engaged in fundamental and applied issues in the field of geomorphology, geochemistry, soil science, agriculture, security environment, rational nature management, as well as related areas.Rostislav Sergeevich Ilyin (1891-1937) is a scientist who worked with a considerable advance of his time. He was a geo-scientist in the full sense of the word, developing several geosciences: geology, hydrogeology, soil science, palaeogeography, landscape studies. R. Ilyin was one of the first scientists - forecasters, approached the understanding of the system of the general universe, developing the theory of geological cycles. Ilyin was a supporter of the integration of science in the 20-30s of the XX century when the process of fragmentation of natural science predominated individual industries. Investigations made by R. Ilyin were both philosophical developments and had great practical significance in developing the natural resources of Siberia. He was the first to predict the oil-bearing capacity of Western Siberia, calculated the thickness of coal deposits in Kuzbass, discovered fresh water in the Kulunda Basin. The main legacy of R. Ilyin is his ideas, set forth in the theses, and theories that are not always understood by contemporaries, but have not lost their significance to the present time.
