Abstract
The necessity to adapt to telehealth during the COVID-19 pandemic has created unique challenges in working with preschool and latency-age children who may lack the attention and communication skills to engage with their psychiatrist on a screen. They also may lack a conceptual framework for understanding the pandemic compared to older children. Families of young children are facing new challenges including balancing work and childcare, job losses, family illness, social isolation, and difficulty staying connected with older relatives.
