Abstract

A multi‐focal waveguide near‐eye display (WNED) system for augmented reality (AR) based on a tunable Pancharatnam‐Berry (PB) phase lens. The tunable lens is made of a stack of switchable PB lens elements which can be switched on and off by voltage. Combined with a waveguide display module, a prototype of the WNED system with images generated at different depths is demonstrated.
