Abstract

Patients with eating disorders (ED) who require a level of care higher than outpatient treatment, but do not require an inpatient hospital stay are often treated in day program (DP) settings. There is no data in the literature, however, to indicate how much weight patients gain using this treatment modality. A quality improvement study was conducted in our day program, which meets 5 days a week, to a) evaluate amount of weight gain, b) determine whether patients lose or gain weight on the weekends when they are home, and c) identify the need for any changes required in program design.
