Abstract
Uncontrolled hyperglycemia is common in the perioperative period and is associated with postoperative complications, including surgical site infection (SSI). A new postoperative order set for neurosurgical patients, including glycemic monitoring for high-risk patients, was implemented in April 2017 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC). This study investigated the impact of this order set on glycemic monitoring, measures of glycemic control and incidence of SSI.
