Abstract

Death with a functioning graft (DWF) has been reported as a major cause of secondary graft loss after renal transplantation with an incidence of 9-30%. However, DWF is rarely reported after lung or heart-lung transplantation where obliterative bronchiolitis (OB), manifesting as the bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome (BOS) is the principal cause of graft loss and death. Our aim was to assess the incidence and etiology of DWF after lung transplantation (LTx).
