Abstract

To make paper web (pulp mat) by drainaging water component from pulp slurry, an endless plastic wire and some wedge shaped (at cross section) hydrofoils are mounted along the machine direction under the wire-forming section of paper machine. In this paper, we consider a computational fluid mode to simulate around a piece of this hydrofoil section applying three-dimensional MAC method to the Navier-Stokes equation. Using this model we can simulate both the condition of drainage flow through the wire into the wedge shaped clearance and the behavior of free surface flow above the driving wire combined with two part' s models.
