Abstract

The effect of the uterine environment on adult vascular function has been well documented. Our previous studies have shown that exposure to significant inflammation at day 16 gestation in mice alters the in vitro carotid artery vascular reactivity in the adult offspring. Our objective in this study was to test the hypothesis that exposure to inflammation in late gestation alters the adult offspring's blood pressure both during normal activity and in endotoxin-induced shock.
