Abstract

vs. 6.2, p 0.033). PlGF and sFlt-1 levels were not significantly different between women with late-onset PE (delivery 36 weeks) and controls without PE. CONCLUSION: Higher plasma PlGF prior to the establishment of hemochorial circulation and lower after in early PE suggests a possible response of the nascent placenta to aberrant placentation and an altered hypoxic environment. The pattern of changes in sFlt-1 levels with hemochorial circulation in patients with early PE may represent a similar response. Taken together, these results confirm that the conditions of PE are established in the first trimester.
