Abstract

The angular distribution of elastically scattered 63 MeV deuterons has been measured for carbon, aluminium and hydrogen, using sonic spark chambers. Optical-model fits have been made to the results for carbon and aluminium. The cross section for deuteron stripping on carbon has been measured to be 65 ± 5 mb.
