Abstract
The increase in youth with functional neurologic symptom disorders (FNSDs) during the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need to increase psychiatrist training in FNSD treatment to meet community needs. Struggles in identifying psychiatrists who treat FNSDs are reported by both pediatric neurologists and patients’ families. Child and adolescent psychiatry fellows and fellowship programs have expressed an interest in more FNSD education beyond the consult liaison services experience. One of the most expedient ways to address these multiple challenges is to create specific FNSD training opportunities for child and adolescent psychiatry fellows.
