Abstract

An active control of mixing layer is important to realize low emission and high load combustion in combustors such as a micro gas turbine. We designed a combustor equipped with electro magnetic flap actuators in the shear layer. The flow patterns of a mixing layer were observed by hot wire anemometer, PIV, and local Chemiluminescence by a Cassegrain optical system. The results show that in the case of low Sr number, air was mixed with fuel from upstream to down stream by periodic fluctuations. In the case of high Sr number, air vortices caused by actuator's periodic fluctuations rolled up into the fuel stream rapidly in the near field of the burner.
