Abstract

To investigate the effect of inlet flow distortion on unsteady cavitation, experiments were carried out using a 4-bladed inducer was examined. The flow distortion was generated by the "screen A" with holes of uneven sizes. To examine the effect of existence of the screen, experiments were also made by using the "screen B" with uniform apertures. It was found that cavitation surge occurs more easily instead of rotating cavitation in the distortion flow. Cavity length oscillates with a phase difference to the variation of angle of attack due to the distortion
