Abstract

Exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UVR) and airborne pollution, particularly in the form of particulate matter sized 2.5 μm (PM2.5), is associated with signs of skin aging and inflammation. Damage from UVR and PM2.5 is believed to be the result of oxidative stress, therefore, we examined the effects of a novel composition containing three antioxidants in an in vitro model system in order to better understand their potential. We focused in particular on rural sources of PM2.5 in order to obtain information related to this source of PM2.5.
