Abstract

AbstractPeter Jackson's The Hobbit, was the first wide release motion picture to be shot and projected in High Frame Rate 3D worldwide. This paper describes the significant technical differences that affected production, distribution and the projection of this new and superior image quality format. The world premiere in New Zealand, and subsequent events in Tokyo and London all used Dual Projection systems for increased luminance and highest 3D image quality possible.
