Abstract

Fetal testing in case of anomalies on ultrasound is increasingly done through genome-wide array analysis, replacing karyotyping. Array is commonly performed on DNA derived from uncultured amniocytes. However, in early pregnancy, amniocytes need to be cultured to obtain sufficient DNA. Amniotic fluid (AF) supernatant contains cell-free fetal (cff) DNA and mRNA, which might offer possibilities for its use in prenatal diagnosis. We aimed to explore the use of cff DNA isolated from AF supernatant as a source for genome-wide array analysis.
