Abstract
This letter reports on the first implementation of an optoelectronic image rejection mixer having a finite bandwidth without using an electrical phase control or filtering of millimeter-wave signals and on its first application to fiber-optic millimeter-wave (mm-wave) transmission. An image rejection ratio of >20 dB was confirmed over a 400-MHz bandwidth for an IF frequency of 2 GHz. In addition, fiber-optic transmission of 156-Mb/s ASK 60-GHz optical mm-wave signal over a 20-km standard single mode fiber was successfully demonstrated with a bit error rate of 10/sup -9/ or lower.
