Abstract

ABSTRACT A slot array substrate integrated waveguide antenna is proposed by utilizing novel center inclined slots with non-uniform spaces for imparting feeding advantages of standing and traveling waves. This 1 × 8 array antenna introduces a 13.2 dB gain at center frequency of 59.9 GHz with −10 dB return loss from 58.9 GHz to 60.9 GHz (roughly 2 GHz) and cross-polarization levels more than 45 and 20 dB in E and H planes, respectively. The occupied volume of the antenna is 33 × 4.5 × 0.8 mm3 that shows its compactness. The analyses have been performed by two full-wave numerical electromagnetic simulator packages, namely ANSYS HFSS and CST MWS which the former collaborated with finite element method and the latter with finite integration technique. The simulation results show good coincidences between these two methods and it validates the design of proposed structure.
