Abstract
Objectives: Patients with cardiovascular disease frequently take aspirin or clopidogrel, which may place them at risk for bleeding during surgical procedures. The coagulation-based hemotherapy (CBH) service is a clinical pathology consultation service that provides intraoperative management of coagulopathy and transfusion support based on predefined algorithms for patients undergoing major cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass.
