Abstract
6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase polymorphism between inbred strains of rats is demonstrated. The biochemical marker exists in two allelic forms, and the trait shows a codominant mendelian inheritance. From gene mapping in different species, there is evidence for linkage between Pgd-1 and the known coat color locus, brown, in linkage group II.
