Abstract

The utilization of natural fibers or agro wastes has become pivotal for the development of sustainable automotive industries. Natural fiber-reinforced composites have become the most versatile materials not only in the construction industries but also in the automotive industries. Because of their low weight, these materials improve the efficiency of the automobile in terms of lower fuel consumption. Most of the major automotive industries are successfully employing natural fiber composites for the development of different automobile parts. In this chapter we discuss this in relation to its development in the automotive industries. We also describe the crashworthiness and use of these composites for the development of the interiors and exteriors of automobiles. In the chapter, we also discuss the mechanical properties of natural fiber-reinforced composites, specifically in the automobile field.
