Abstract
A lot of Chinese medicine preparations, especially the informal ones, contain lead. It is easy for children to suffer lead poisoning. Lead poisoning can cause multi-organ dysfunction. The early diagnosis of lead poisoning in children is challenging due to the varied and nonspecific clinical manifestations. We retrospectively collected and analyzed the clinical data of 6 patients with liver damage caued by lead poisoning. After the lead chelation and hepatic functional protection treatment, the 6 cases all were recovered. Health education to the public and avoidance of lead contaminated products are more important than chelation therapy for children with lead poisoning.
