Abstract
Childhood onset schizophrenia (COS) is a rare and severe form of the disorder. Working memory (WM) deficits are consistently reported in the adult schizophrenia literature and severely impair patients’ functional outcomes. It is unclear if these working memory impairments relate to positive or negative symptoms of the disorder. Here, using an n-back paradigm, we examine whether COS patients show impairments in WM functions compared with healthy controls and examine whether their WM performance is correlated with clinical symptoms.
