Abstract

BACKGROUND CONTEXT: It has been estimated that at the time of death 70–90% of patients with primary tumors will have metastasis commonly in the vertebral column. These may cause pain, deformity and paralysis. The question arises as to how best to manage the condition to maximize the patients' quality of life and minimize hospital stay.
