Abstract

PREFACE OF ICMSE 2017The 5th Annual International Conference on Material Science and Engineering (ICMSE2017) was held in Xiamen, Fujian, China at October 20-22, 2017. The aim of the conference is to bring together the leading scientists, working in energy, environment, structural, functional, optoelectronic and magnetic materials, biomaterials and nano-scale materials in order to share the latest advances in their research in these fields. We believe that through keynote speeches by outstanding, internationally recognized scholars, in oral sessions and posters presentations, the Conference has reflected an overview of the latest developments in materials science. The topics of ICMSE 2017 ensured an exchange of scientific information and opinions in a field with impressive dynamics, considering the technological progress, theoretical and practical aspects of the research. This forum provides opportunities for the senior and young researchers, as well as representatives to the academia and industry, to exchange new ideas, to establish research or business relations and to find partners for future collaboration. We hope that the conference has constituted significant contribution to the knowledge in this up to date scientific field.The proceedings provide an opportunity for the readers to engage with a selection of refereed papers that were presented during the ICMSE2017. It intends to collect in four chapters the most recent achievements in Electronic, Optic and Magnetic Materials; Nano-scale and Amorphous Materials; Biomaterials and Functional and Structural Materials, which will be forwarded for publication to IOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), and the conference proceedings will be submitted by IOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) for EI and ISTP indexing. The papers have been selected for this proceedings based on originality, significance, and clarity for the purpose of the conference.We would like to thank all participants for their valuable contribution to the Conference and these Proceedings, thus making the program of very high quality. This will re-inforce the position of the future conference editions as a leading forums for sharing the latest developments in materials for broad range of applications. We assessed more than 52 papers, from which 51 were accepted after strict peer-reviewing by few expert referees. This is the right moment to express gratitude to the reviewers for their time, valuable recommendations and constructive evaluation, in order to guarantee the high quality of the Proceedings content. Special thanks to all members of the Technical Program Committee, staff and volunteers for their devoted and professional assistance in the overall organization of the conference.
