Abstract

With the development of 5G technologies the limitations of 4G/LTE can be overcome. 4G provided fast internet access but it suffered from a low data rate, high latency and weak quality of service guarantees. In an industrial plant an Internet of Things (IoT) based system deployed for monitoring of electrical machines is intolerant to vulnerabilities of 4G/LTE based IoT system. When a motor starts malfunctioning it requires immediate action, and too high delay rates are not affordable. Failure of even a single electrical machine may lead to complete shutdown of plant or even production of the defected product. The present paper gives a 5G enabled IoT based industrial plant monitoring system which utilizes the inherent properties of 5G technologies and IoT combined to overcome the limitations the existing monitoring system, though there are not many. The simulation results show that the proposed system improves the latency and reliability by 15% of the existing Systems.
