5G based Cloud-Edge Collaboration for Canteen Self-Service Settlement Solution

Abstract

Canteen self-service settlement has attracted great interest for intelligent device manufacturers. Existing canteen self-service settlement technology are mainly two kinds: based on RFID technology and based on artificial intelligence image recognition technology. Although the self-service settlement technology based on RFID has the advantages of fast speed and high accuracy, the deployment cost is high, and special plates with RFID chips are needed, which limits the development and promotion of the technology. Compared to RFID, the cost of canteen self-service settlement technology based on deep learning image recognition is low. However, it costs large effort of testing and training in different canteen environments, which improves the difficulty of deployment. With the development of 5G technology, we propose a solution of canteen self-service settlement based on cloud-edge collaboration, which solves the problems of difficult deployment of canteen self-service settlement technology based on deep learning image recognition in different canteens and high cost of model training. The solution also widens the application of 5G technology, and contributes to the promotion of canteen self-service settlement technology.
