Abstract

Over the past 2 years, there has been an increase in adolescents presenting with functional and/or tic-like symptoms, which exhibit an atypical onset and clinical course. The sudden-onset and intense motor movements and vocalizations are often associated with significant impairment and disability. Here, we discuss evidence-based behavioral interventions for tics, and we discuss the implementation of behavioral and cognitive-behavioral strategies for youth with tics and/or tic-like symptoms.
