Abstract
Little is known about the liability risks emergency providers face when deciding whether to order head computed tomography (CT) in patients with head trauma. We describe the patient characteristics and legal outcomes of lawsuits levied against providers for their failure to order a CT in cases of head trauma and describe the potential impact of available clinical decision rules (CDRs) on each case.
