Abstract

In 2016, a multidisciplinary team at a tertiary care hospital with a large GME training program began an educational quality improvement project to standardize the procedure, training and competency testing for resident performed Central Venous Access (CVA) to address an above-the-national-average complication rate. The purpose of this program is to decrease central line associated blood stream infections (CLABSI) and major mechanical complications associated with resident performed CVA.
