Abstract

Organic light emitting diode (OLED) has been well researched and optimized during the past decades. OLED display is widely applied in the mobile phone, wearable bracelet, and TV et.al, and now it has begun to expand the field of automotive OLED displays. As another branch of OLED technology, the OLED lighting technology in automotive application market is also widely concerned. OLED inherently has the characteristics of planar light source, lightness, independently addressable segments, flexibility and transparency, which have brought impact and innovation to the traditional automotive lighting. Simultaneously, automotive lighting also puts forward more stringent requirements on the reliability and quality of the light sources. In this article, we will completely analyze the special requirements existed in different car lighting and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of OLED lighting, combined with current technologies. Also, OLED lighting technology in car application is highly anticipated in the future.
