Abstract

Acne is a disease of the PSU and several factors have been associated with its pathogenesis including the bacterium Cutibacterium acnes (C. acnes). C. acnes has been shown to trigger inflammation in acne by activating toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2). Furthermore, sialic acid-binding immunoglobulin receptors (Siglecs) on innate immune cells have also been shown to regulate immune response by TLRs. In this study we isolated punch biopsies from lesional and non-lesional skin and used single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) to identify the macrophage immune landscape.
