Abstract

Trajectories of substance use among adolescents presenting for primary care have not been well characterized but understanding them is critical for the clinician, who is in a position to counsel and refer to treatment. We empirically identified major substance use trajectories of adolescent primary care patients during the year following a routine clinic visit, and characterized the demographic and risk profiles of the different trajectory groups.
