Abstract

Objective: To study the clinical characteristics and cardiovascular risk factors in hypertensive patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome. Methods: Retrospective study was performed in hypertensive patients at department of hypertension. One thousand six hundred sixty six hypertensive patients were enrolled, which were classified into four groups dependent on the finding of polysomnography(PSG): hypertensive without obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS)(group1, n = 359), hypertensive with mild OSAHS(group 2, n = 503), hypertensive with moderate OSAHS (group 3, n = 376) and hypertensive with severe OSAHS(group 4, n = 428). The clinical characteristics and cardiovascular risk factors of patients were compared among four groups. Results: (1) Compared without hypertensive, patients in the other groups had higher mean values of age, AHI and TC (P<0.01), Age, AHI and LDL-C of mild OSAHS had lower level than moderate OSAHS (P<0.01). (2)The detection rate of smoking, dyslipidemia, hyperglycemia, hs-CRP and obesity increased with the severity of OSAHS (P<0.05). (3) Risk Factors of OSAHS, the biggest effect factor on AHI are age, and then BMI. Conclusions: Hypertension with OSAHS is frequently accompanied with metabolic disturbance of carbohydrate and lipid, especially for hypertensive patients with severe OSAHS. Age and BMI are closely related to OSAHS.
