Abstract

Observations of 5577 Å and 5893 Å emissions in the lower thermosphere obtained at two different phases of solar cycles viz. in 1964 (IQSY) and 1982 (IMAP) are analysed to explore the possibility of dynamic coupling between the two nearby regions of emission. A very careful correction for the F-layer component has been carried out for these 5577 Å airglow observations, before subjecting them to a cross-correlation analysis. The dynamic coupling seems to be quite strong, when correction for the F-layer component is appropriate, as the observed lag between the intensity variations of these two emissions can be very nearly zero.
