Abstract

The authors describe a large capacity photonic ATM switch that uses TDM and WDM techniques. In this switch, the TDM is based on bit interleave multiplexing, and the WDM uses fixed wavelength optical sources and tunable wavelength filters. Demultiplexing experiments of a four-time-division, two-wavelength-division multiplexed 110 Gbit/s pulse stream are carried out using a nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM) and a tunable optical bandpass filter.
