Abstract
Cytochrome p450 (CYP) enzymes are involved in the metabolism of many psychotropic medications. Genetic polymorphisms can lead to alterations in drug metabolism, leading to toxicity or lack of therapeutic response in patients. Multiple commonly prescribed medications for early psychosis have relevant cytochrome p450 interactions. It is important for clinicians to be aware of these interactions when working with children, adolescents, and transitional-age youth experiencing psychosis.
