Abstract

The Texas Senate passed a bill during the 86th legislative session known as Senate Bill 11 to address accessibility to mental health services for the youth of Texas. The bill leverages the expertise and capacity of the 12 health-related institutions of higher education in Texas to address the urgent mental health challenges in Texas. One of the 5 initiatives ordered in the legislation was the establishment of a statewide telehealth system providing direct mental health services to schools now known as the Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT) Program.
