Abstract

Mental health disorders occur in Down syndrome (DS) at a greater incidence as compared with the typically developing population. As a result of diagnostic overshadowing, differences in clinical presentation of symptoms, and limited research, significant challenges can arise in the mental health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of DS. This session will focus on the mental health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of common mental health disorders in DS.
