Abstract

Recently interventional surgeries in human body have been improved. They require microsurgery tools such as those for operating the inner part of a blood tube. Several prototype microsurgery tools are manufactured by micro-electrodischarge machining. The precise cutting edges of microsurgery knives of 2mm length and round microtools of 0.88mm diameter for removing the tissue adhering to the lead wire of a cardiac pacemaker obtained. The cutting forces are measured using biomimic organic materials. The forces are equivalent to the conventional razor. Furthermore, the microscissors of 1.5mm cutting edge length are manufactured. These tools are proven useful in the experiment.
