Abstract

According to the communal coping model, pain catastrophizing is used as a means to obtain others’ support, sympathy, or attention in interpersonal situations. Previous studies have demonstrated that pain catastrophizing affects the recognition of emotional facial expressions and interpersonal problems. Recently, it has been proposed from the developmental perspective that an internal working model (i.e., attachment) formed during childhood may continue until adulthood and affect pain catastrophizing.
