Abstract

We have developed a simulation model of spray combustion in highly preheated air, which is a recent effective technology for energy saving. The flow field of the calculation was taken from the corresponding experimental regenerative furnace with a strong swirling flow. The basic concept of the spray model we have developed is PSI-cell model. Adding to this model, we introduced the influences of droplet turbulent dispersion. Velocity fluctuation and turbulent dispersion of droplets are described using a probability density function. We can estimate the interaction between gas-phase and droplets not with mean values but with spatial distributions.
