Abstract

The incidence of temporary lingual nerve injury following third molar surgery is estimated in the literature to be as high as 37.5%. These patients often present to OMFS emergency clinics and are seen by the DCT on-call. This injury must be accurately documented but the scope and quality of this assessment is often inconsistent and there are no national consensus guidelines.
