Abstract

The performance of active feedback control of edge tone phenomenon was investigated experimentally using a steepest descent method, which allows automatic optimization of control parameters, such as the phase lag and amplitude of control flow. The measurements of pressure fluctuations over the edge surface under the optimum control were carried out at various distances of the edge from the nozzle. The results indicate that the pressure fluctuations under the control are fairly reduced in comparison with those without control.
